As a teacher of documentary and narrative photography, Mary Beth challenges students at the high school, college, and adult levels to examine the power and representational relationships inherent to the practice, while encouraging them to understand their own communities and find their own voices. She has taught workshops and college courses, including at the Massachusetts College of Art and Design, the University of Missouri School of Journalism, and Stanford University. She holds workshops each summer at the Castle Hill Center for the Arts in Truro, Massachusetts, and was on the Faculty of the 70th Missouri Photo Workshop in Mountain Grove, Missouri, in September 2018.
