Giovanni Crognale belongs to a community of immigrants from the Abruzzo region of Italy that began settling in the North End of Boston in the 1950s. They followed their fellow "paesani" – people from the same part of the Italian countryside – to Boston, in effect transplanting their community in America. Here Mr. Crognale greets family and fellow "paesani" at a party at his home.
